Volume vs. Weight (The 0.86 Rule)
Melted wax is lighter than water, so a jar holds less wax by weight than its fluid capacity suggests. This calculator multiplies the container volume in fluid ounces by a planning factor of 0.86, so a 10 fl oz jar comes out at about 8.6 oz of soy wax. The real figure depends on your wax (check its data sheet), so weigh your first batch and adjust if it differs.
Mastering Fragrance Load
Adding too much oil causes "sweating" (oil seeping out), while too little ruins the scent throw. Most soy waxes hold a 6% - 10% fragrance load.
Pro Tip: Precision matters. A digital kitchen scale is non-negotiable for consistent batches. Never measure by cups/spoons; always measure by weight (grams) to ensure your fragrance binds correctly.

Why do my candles have sinkholes?▼
Pouring too hot or cooling too fast causes shrinkage. Save a little wax for a "second pour" to top off the surface once the candle has cooled.
How long should I cure soy candles?▼
Patience pays off. Let your candles cure for at least 2 weeks. This allows the soy wax and fragrance oil to bind, resulting in a much stronger scent throw when burned.
